Asunto: web update Cars!
Well, I've filled up my space on the web again with a large number of photos and short movies. Many shots from the car racing of vintage autos and a great car show for Volvo 1800's held at the Glen in June. I have many more pictures than I can post and if any body wants copies ...please let me know.
I'm thinking about placing all the pictures on a CD and you can get virtually 1000 pics from some great racing. There isn't a great deal of words but there are many pictures and they can take a long time to download.
Please go to http://www.georger.com/watkins_glen_september_2001.htm for some of the newest pages. Look around and let me know what you like about the sight. Please look at all the pages and "Click" on the ones that the cursor changes into a hand and you'll get to see a short (5 second) movie.
Thanks for looking.

Hello Alberto,
Please accept my sincere apologies for the lateness of my reply. I was away from my office for a few days and did not receive your message in time for a reply to have reached you.
I hope you had an enjoyable trip, in any case.
I now also notice that we do not have a link to your club's website -- I will add this to VClassics as soon as possible.
Best regards,
Phil

Hi Alberto,
The mounting kits for the PV swaybars are priced at $75 for both front and rear. Some of these items are not usually in stock; so it might be easier/more affordable to purchase some of the nuts, bolts and washers locally and only the bushings and specific brackets from ipd?
Thanks,
Cameron

Dear Cameron
Thanks for the bars you sold me ,they really works great!! The only problem for me is that other Club members want them and I explained that you dont have them any more.In this scenario one Club member managed to copy the bars, and he asked me to get in touch with you looking the possibility for them to buy from you all the other stuff needed to install the bars If you can sell them this parts I estimate that at least 5 Club members will follow As I am going to be in Lime Rock the next days I dont need an inmediate answer ,so please take your time to look for this possibility I personally will be very busy using all the engine parts I just bought from you !!!!Coming back to Chile next Saturday
Thanks Alberto

Alberto,
I'm very sorry we weren't able to get the overdrive to the airport for you.
In your next trip if you could plan on renting a car we can make arrangements for you to pick the parts up at my shop at any time , even on Saturday or Sunday if necessary.
Thank you for the offer to send pictures from Lime Rock. Could you also send information on your club? With your permission, we will write about you in our national magazine. Thank you!
Best regards,
Duane Matejka

Hi there
overdrive is .756 to 1 so whatever you rpm is now multiply by .756 EX: if you turn 4000 rpm with OD it would be 3024 with OD engaged much quieter and fuel efficient

Hello
I have a good used overdrive and trans for $550 ( 30 day guarantee ) all you will have to do is hook up a switch to turn it on. You may have to shorten you drive shaft too. I have the drive shafts that will work on the p1800 140 and 122 and may work on the 544 and will include this wit the purchase too

If you saw my website and my pictures I hope you enjoyed them. It was my first visit to Lime Rock and I live about 6 hours away in Buffalo NY near Niagara Falls. I have some
friends who race and I meet them at the track and stay with them there and take pictures of them racing. One is Duane Matejka who is Foreign Autotech http://www.foreignautotech.com/
near Philadelphia. He sells many new parts for 1800's and is a great racer and has been racing cars for near 30 years. He has #1 a 1962 P1800 in red.
There are others who also race and each has a great setup for their Volvo to race. John Hamilton has the 544 #3 red and still has a B18 in it. The race tuning is done over time and each racer (vintage) has their own idea as to what works best under given circumstances. A standard setup is for 2 45DCOE Weber carburetors headers, dual valve springs, ported and polished head, .040 bore . All use the M40 4 SPEED transmission and disk brakes all around. The SCCA issues guidelines and limits for classes and might be a better place for you to look. http://www.scca.org/index.html I have my own preferences but I do not race. I own the 544 named "Virgil" http://www.georger.com/virgil.htm and have modified him often. He has a B20 M41 fibreglass front fenders and 4 wheel disc brakes. He's virtually a 1973 P1800ES with the body of a 544. Last year I drove that car for 18,000 miles in 12 months. I also have 2 1800ES and have owned one of these since 1980.
In the summer I drive this and each winter I drive "Virgil". I just bought a small book on Ebay titled "Performance Tuning B18 series Volvos" It's only 8 pages but very good to read. I'll try to scan it and send it to you if you would like.
Contact Duane Matejka on his website to learn more.
Good luck and Happy volvo
Christopher Georger
PS What do you have in Volvo's 1800? 544? 122?

Dear Alberto,
We are home now and experiencing very cold winter. Temperatures range
between -15 and -5 degrees. It is quite a difference with the pleasant
weather in summertime Chile.
Friday we will collect our cars in Zeebrugge(Belgium) and may start
repairing all car deficiencies. We hope that one day we will have the
pleasure of meeting you and your colleagues here on the old continent.
In the meantime I have collected a few pictures of our Santiago visit. I am
sure there more to come, and surely I will send them as well.
Best regards,
Arnold |
